Market Research Front Cover Conventions - Magazine 2


 


Masthead – The Masthead on this stands out well on the front cover. The name of the Masthead is clear as the writing is large, bold and easy to see. The colour of yellow stands out well especially against the black background.

Image - This medium long shot image dominates the front cover of the magazine. This man stands out well and is dressed smartly. The choices that have been made for this man to be holding books with “Law, Business and Society” written on them, shows that the college is academic. Although this man stands out well on the front cover, the choice of clothing also blends in with the black background. This image shows one of the main articles which the reader will expect to see inside of the magazine.

Anchorage – The Anchorage “Dancehall’s Bright Future - Jeffrey Assassin’ Campbell”, gives the image meaning.

Colour scheme/ Graphical – The graphical choices of using yellow, make the masthead and cover lines stand out from the rest of the lettering on the page. Using separate colours would draw the eyes of the eyes of the reader to these coversine's as they give information on what to expect to see in side and help sell the magazine.

The Left Third – Where the best eye-catching coversine's and information is located so it easy to see when on shelves. “Make money on campus” , “Dancehall’s bright future”.

Language - The Masthead on this stands out well on the front cover. The name of the Masthead is clear as the writing is large, bold and easy to see. The colour of yellow stands out well especially against the black background

Institution – The institution for this magazine is the college itself. No special brand name is associated with college magazines as only the college students would buy it, therefore companies would make a loss rather than any profit.

Ideology ­– The ideology of this magazine shows that this college is smart through the books that this man is reading. He is very well presented in the way that he is dressed.

Audience – This college magazine is aimed at students who already attend the college.

Representation – The representation of this college shows that this is a very academic place, the anchorage of this magazine says "Dancehall's Bright Future" and the image shows a man holding books with subjects on them that are seen to be 'smart' subjects, "Law, Business and Society", which represents the idea of the college being academic.
